About Me & My Work
I am Isa Kara, creatrix of The Alchemy Portal, a body of work devoted to the reclamation of feminine wisdom, the integration of inherited pain and the deeper work of becoming who we are capable of being.
My work is rooted in a lived relationship with Gaia-Sophia, the living Earth, and informed by Sophianic Shamanic Energy Medicine, embodied inquiry, ritual and archetypal wisdom.
I work with women who are willing to look beneath the familiar stories they have inherited, to meet themselves with greater honesty, and to bring what they discover into the way they live, create, relate and participate in the world.

My path into this work has not been a process of collecting teachings or searching for a singular spiritual truth. It has been an ongoing process of remembering, questioning, unlearning and developing a more intimate relationship with the living world and with the complexities of being human.
Over the years, my practice has taken shape through study, initiation, ceremony, lived experience and the relationships that have taught me as much as any formal training. I am an initiated Mesa Carrying Shamanic Practitioner and a Sophianic Animistic Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner, with additional training in Applied Women's Neuropsychophysiology and Foundational Jungian Psychology. These different strands inform my work, alongside an understanding that continues to develop through practice, reflection and my own participation in the work I offer.
I am particularly interested in the ways our personal experiences are shaped by larger ancestral, cultural and collective patterns. The wounds we carry do not begin and end with us. Our relationships with our mothers, our sisters, our bodies, our sexuality, our creativity and our own authority are shaped by histories and systems that have influenced what women are permitted to feel, know, express and become. I am interested in what becomes possible when we begin to recognise these patterns without reducing ourselves to them, and when the work of healing becomes a reclamation of life force, discernment and agency.
This inquiry runs through the different bodies of work I have created, from The Seven Portals and From Pain Body to Wisdom Body to Alchemy Through the Medicine Wheel and my private mentorship work. Each approaches the work from a different direction, but all are rooted in the understanding that meaningful change asks more of us than insight alone. It asks us to bring what we come to know into our bodies, our relationships, our choices and the worlds we are building.
My relationship with Gaia-Sophia, the living Earth, is central to how I understand this work. I do not see the Earth as a backdrop to human experience, nor spirituality as a means of rising above the difficulties of embodied life. I understand our lives as inseparable from the living systems of which we are part.
The women I work with are often in the midst of creating or changing something significant, whether in their families, their work, their communities, their art or their relationship with the land. They are not looking for someone to tell them who to become. They are looking for a space in which they can meet what is true, recover what has been obscured and develop the capacity to live from a deeper place of knowing.
This is the work I practise and offer: not a promise of perfection or transcendence, but an invitation into a more honest, embodied and reciprocal relationship with ourselves and the living world.
The Medicine That Informs My Work
“Woman is by nature a Shaman.” — Chukchi proverb
My work is rooted in an animistic understanding of life, in which the Earth is not simply the ground beneath our feet, but a living presence with which we are in continual relationship. I understand this living matrix through the lens of Gaia-Sophia, the Creatrix and living intelligence of the Earth, and the Sophianic understanding of life as an expression of an interconnected field of organic wisdom.
Sophianic Shamanic Energy Medicine is the framework through which I work with the energetic, emotional and embodied dimensions of human experience. It brings together my training and initiation in Shamanic Energy Medicine, my animistic relationship with the living Earth, and the intuitive and ceremonial dimensions of my practice.
A central concept in my work is the Organic Light Body (OLB), which I understand as the subtle energetic matrix associated with our embodied experience. It is also described in other energetic traditions through terms such as the luminous or subtle energy field, energy body, auric or morphogenic field. Within my practice, I work with this field as a way of exploring the imprints, patterns and unresolved experiences that may influence how we inhabit our bodies, relate to others, experience or perceive, and move through life.
These patterns may have personal, ancestral or collective dimensions. They can be reflected in the beliefs we carry, the relationships we repeat, the ways we protect ourselves and the aspects of our nature we have learned to suppress or disown. My work seeks to bring these patterns into awareness and to support a process of release, reclamation and integration.
This is not a process of separating ourselves from the body or seeking transcendence from the difficulties and complexities of being human. It is an invitation to deepen our relationship and restore a sense of belonging within the living world and to recover the wisdom that becomes available when we meet ourselves with greater honesty.
For me, this is part of the Beauty Way: learning to live in deeper relationship with ourselves, one another and the Earth, with the understanding that our healing is inseparable from the way we participate in the larger web of life.

How I Work
My practice has developed over more than three decades of study, apprenticeship, initiation, personal inquiry and work with others. I have been fortunate to learn from many teachers while continuing to deepen my understanding of my own intuitive skills and the responsibilities involved in offering this work.
I do not approach a client through a fixed formula or assume that the same process will be appropriate for everyone. Our work begins with what is present in your life and what emerges through our relationship. The methods we draw upon are guided by the nature of the work, your circumstances and the areas that are asking for attention.
My role is not to prescribe who you should become, nor to position myself as an authority; it is to bring my experience, training and intuitive understanding into a working relationship that supports you in meeting what is there, recognising the patterns that have shaped you and developing a more conscious relationship with your own knowing.
I understand this work as a collaboration. It asks for trust and openness, but also discernment, personal responsibility and a willingness to participate in the process beyond the session itself.
The Work of Remembering
“The feminine journey is about going down deep into soul, healing and reclaiming, while the masculine journey is up and out, to spirit.” - Maureen Murdock
The work may touch many dimensions of experience, because our lives are shaped by the interplay of personal history, ancestral inheritance, cultural conditioning, embodied experience and the meanings we have learned to make of ourselves and the world.
Depending on what is emerging, our work may involve exploring core wounds, inner child experiences and expressions, shadow material and relational patterns that have become habitual. We may look at the ways ancestral histories and collective conditioning continue to shape our beliefs, boundaries, relationships and sense of self, including the internalised patterns of patriarchy and misogyny that affect how women understand and inhabit their lives.
My work with the Feminine is concerned with more than nurturing or self-expression. It asks what it means to reclaim the parts of ourselves that have been suppressed, distorted or made unacceptable, and to restore a relationship with our own embodied intelligence, creative life force and authority. This may involve archetypal inquiry, ritual, womb rites, embodied practices and engagement with what I call the Feminine Wisdom Body.
Shamanic Energy Medicine offers another dimension of this work. Depending on the needs of the individual, I may draw on practices such as energetic clearing, cord-cutting, soul retrieval and recapitulation, alongside ritual and other methods within my training and practice. These are not a prescribed sequence of interventions, nor are they all used with every client. The work is shaped by the person, the context and what we discern to be appropriate together.
My approach is particularly concerned with the relationship between spiritual understanding and embodied life. I am not interested in spirituality as an escape from our histories, our bodies or our responsibilities to one another. I am interested in what becomes possible when we bring greater awareness to the ways we live, relate, create and participate in the world.
For women, this often includes the reclamation of feminine wisdom, the examination of inherited wounds and the recovery of capacities that have been obscured by conditioning. When working with men, my focus is on the wounded inner child, the inherited and internalised structures of patriarchy, and the responsibility involved in repairing the harm these patterns can perpetuate.
Each person's experience is different. The work is not about reproducing a particular experience or achieving a predetermined result, but about creating the conditions in which meaningful inquiry, change and integration can take place.
The Relationship and Responsibilities of the Work
This work asks for time, trust and participation from both practitioner and client. It can bring us into contact with material that has been avoided, inherited or held outside our conscious understanding, and requires a willingness to meet what emerges with honesty and care.
I offer a space in which we can explore these dimensions of experience with attention and discernment, drawing on the methods of my practice while respecting your individuality, circumstances and capacity. I do not believe that meaningful change can be reduced to a single experience or intervention. Integration takes place over time, through the ways we respond to what we discover and bring that understanding into our lives. For this reason, I begin individual work with a six-session container. This allows us to establish a relationship, explore what is bringing you to the work and discern what kind of support would be most appropriate as the process develops. It also allows us to establish whether working together is a good fit.
My work with men is offered within a specific framework. I work with men who are willing to take responsibility for examining the effects of patriarchal social conditioning, including internalised and externalised misogyny, and who are prepared to engage with the emotional and relational consequences of these patterns. This willingness is an important part of establishing whether we are suited to working together.
I also hold a clear commitment to cultural integrity. My practice draws on methods and traditions in which I have been trained, initiated or given permission to work. I do not claim ownership of culturally specific ceremonies or teachings, nor do I consider personal interest alone sufficient qualification to offer them. Where a particular practice belongs to a cultural tradition outside my own training and initiation, it should be undertaken in relationship with appropriately trained and authorised practitioners.
Ultimately, this work is a shared responsibility. I bring my training, experience, intuitive capacities and commitment to the process; you bring your willingness to participate, to question what you have inherited and to engage with what becomes possible as the work unfolds.
The intention is not to become someone other than yourself, but to develop a deeper, more embodied relationship with who you are, how you live and what you are here to bring into the world.
HERE we do not seek ascension - WE seek Deeper Roots.
